LAGAN CONSTRUCTION GROUP TO BUILD WASTE TRANSFER STATION IN POOLE

The Council and Borough of Poole have appointed Lagan Construction Group to deliver a £2.8million redevelopment of Nuffield road Waste Transfer Station and Civic Amenity site in Poole, Dorset.

Lagan Construction Group will undertake this design and build contract which will include earthworks and demolition of the existing Waste Transfer Station. Works will also include the installation of two weighbridges complete with an office and a security office. Retaining walls and fencing will be constructed around the perimeter of the site.

The new Waste Transfer Station and Civic Amenity Centre will comprise of excavation works, steel portal frame and cladding, reinforced concrete and a newly laid asphalt surface. Fire main and holding tanks with dust and odour suppression systems will be incorporated into the design for the Waste Transfer Station.

The upgrade of the Waste Transfer Station and Civic Amenity Site is an integral part of the waste infrastructure for Poole as these works will secure the future of its Waste Management Strategy whilst meeting the regulatory requirements for Waste Permit and Health & Safety. The works will support the Council’s objective of Protecting Poole’s environment and reducing carbon footprint in the area.

Work is due to commence imminently and is due for completion in August 2012.
