FK Lowry Piling awarded contract for Dublin City Council

05 Jun 2012

FK Lowry has recently been awarded a €100k contract at Eden Quay on the River Liffey in Central Dublin. Works will be carried out 7 days per week over a 3 week period.

The contract is with ABCO Marine who has been employed by Grahams to deliver the works. The works involve the construction of 20No 600mm Rotary Bored Piles, using a high torque Soilmec SR70 Piling Rig, operating on a Jack-Up-Barge on the River Liffey. 700mm temporary segmental casings will be implemented down to sea bed with 600mm diameter digging and coring tools utilised forming rock sockets into hard limestone. 508mm diameter steel piles will then be concreted forming the foundations for the river crossing.

This will be a challenging ‘off shore’ operation with strict environmental constraints. Efficient timing of operations is crucial to suit out of hour’s movement of barge and tidal effects.
