Dew Piling Working at Carrington Power

29 Sep 2014

Dew Piling are nearing completion on a £2.4M Sheet Piling Scheme for Contractor Sisk. The 16 Month project involved the installation of approximately 1000T of Temporary & Permanent Sheet Piles for the construction of a new Power Station in the North West of England. The Client, Alstom and DF are constructing a new gas-fired power station in Carrington, Greater Manchester for Carrington Power.

Following the three year construction period, the 880MW power plant will enter commercial operation in early 2016 and will generate enough electricity to supply the needs of around a million homes.

“The project management of the Carrington Scheme was challenging due to a number of issues. Namely, restricted working and also working in conjunction with the bulk earthworks package and ground works contractors meant a lot of detailed planning was required. The Carrington Scheme is another example of our experience working within the Energy sector. Other areas of expertise in the Energy Sector include Energy from Waste Schemes were we have successfully carried out CFA & Rotary Bored Piling Projects for our sister company in Cardiff and Suffolk.”
