Community Treatment & Care Centre - Portadown
Project Overview
Portadown Community Treatment and Care Centre is a flagship development stimulating town regeneration and providing a ‘one stop shop’ for both primary and community care services.
H&J Martin completed this 6,000m² facility in 96 weeks. The project challenges included site preparation works due its proximity to the River Bann. In excess of 34,000m² of soil was disposed off-site.
H&J Martin handed over an energy efficient building solution with the Care Centre’s many low energy features including a biomass boiler, solar domestic hot water, geothermal energy and a thermal
labyrinth for the fresh air. Our project management team successfully managed up to 200 operatives on site at peak times, including 6 apprentices.
We were able to offer the client many significant cost savings. The thermal labyrinths were redesigned to reduce the need for expensive temporary works, delivering a saving on both cost and programme.
This modern healthcare facility has won awards for both the design and the build demonstrating our ability to successfully deliver projects based on modern design methods
