‘Be a Saint-Volunteer’

H&J Martin employees were saints for the day when they teamed up with Volunteer Now and Business in the Community 'Be a Saint - Volunteer' Volunteering Action Day on Friday 16th March 2012. This annual employer supported volunteering event is a popular date on the corporate calendar. Employee volunteers from across the province were encouraged to shine their halos and sign up for this year’s set of practical challenges to benefit their organisation and the wider local community.

Following a breakfast launch in Castlereagh at Forest side Shopping Centre, 12 volunteers from H&J Martin set off to the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum to help with a number of outdoor tasks. George Sproule, Outreach Team Leader at the National Museums commented “We would like to thank H&J Martin for taking part in this great volunteering initiative. The team completed a number of task including tree planting and potato crops in just a few hours, which would have taken our team days to complete!”

Wilton Farrelly, Divisional Director at H&J Martin Ltd reinforced this: “H&J Martin is committed to a Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and we found that by taking part in this volunteering action day we could not only give something back to the local community but it is also great for team building”.
